Dr. O'Grady receiving the President's award from Dr. Harry Werner, President of American Association of Equine Practitioners

Equine foot specialist Stephen E. O'Grady, DVM, MRCVS, was presented with the coveted American Association of Equine Practitioners' annual President's Award during their 55th Annual Convention held in Las Vegas, Nevada. Dr. O'Grady, a veterinarian and professional farrier, owns Northern Virginia Equine in Marshall, Virginia.

In 2009 Dr. O'Grady was instrumental in organizing the program for the AAEP's Focus on the Foot meeting held in Columbus, Ohio. Joining the AAEP's efforts to grow the equine veterinary profession, Dr. O'Grady organized and participated in the AAEP vet farrier student short courses and traveled to veterinary schools in 2009 to present these courses to the students. In addition, he volunteered his veterinary services in the Dominican Republic. As an "equitarian," Dr. O'Grady provided crucial foot care in communities where quality veterinary is lacking and such care can prevent detrimental lameness in "working equids". He also conducted the first farriery clinic held in the Dominican Republic.
